The Vale of Lune Trojans have been on the road once more. Once the title of the fifth XV, the Trojans tradition lives on in the form of the end-of-season touring party for the senior players, along with supporters and guests. This time it was the turn of the north-east to enjoy the merry-making as forty tourists in full voice bestowed their celebratory energy on Sunderland RUFC on the Saturday, and Barnard Castle RUFC on the Sunday.
The touring party included five playing guests from Denbigh RUFC in Wales and two from Sefton RUFC on Merseyside. Twenty-five players donned the cherry and white, some for their Vale debuts. Marking his twenty-eighth Vale Trojans tour, twenty-five of them as organiser-in-chief, David Hughes warrants the commendation of the club for the enormous good will he has generated on behalf of the Vale of Lune across the country. A great many rugby clubs know the Vale of Lune because of his herculean and sustained efforts.
