Bart's funeral will take place on Wednesday 1st November 2.30pm at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium followed by a celebration of his life at the Vale.

It is with sadness that the Vale of Lune announces the death of Bart Gardner. On the pitch, Throughout the 1970s and 80s, Bart was a tough, no nonsense back row forward, combative yet controlled, and capable of inspiring others to play to their best. Off the pitch, he was splendid company. He found the humour in life and shared it with great generosity.

Our condolences go out to Bart's family: Mo, Charlotte and Kevin and their respective families. The process of bereavement is inevitably difficult, but we hope that the esteem in which Bart was held at the Vale goes some way to provide support to those who now feel it so acutely.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
