Sadly Harold passed away on December 27 after a short illness.

Harold, a former Vale captain, was a cherry and white stalwart through and through. He was a player of the highest quality, a effervescent scrum half in addition to being a hard working, enthusiastic committee member.
Although Harold joined Otley RUFC he maintained his links with the Vale. He was a regular visitor and took a keen interest in all that was happening at a club that he had so many fond memories of, and had made so many friends.
Over at Otley, Harold displayed all the qualities he had shown during his time at Powderhouse Lane, he played an integral role in helping to drive Otley forward. At various times Harold held the positions of President and Chairman but he will always be remembered as an unflagging worker at Cross Green, not only on match days but throughout the season.
Harold was not one to sit back, be it at the Vale or Otley, he had boundless energy and a real passion for the game. Harold, with his twinkling smile, will not only be missed by the Vale and Otley in particular, but the world of rugby in general. Our game has lost a very special gentleman. To be in his company was indeed an honour.
All at the Vale of Lune extend their condolences to Harold's family at this sad time.
The funeral will take place at St Giles Church, Bramhope, on Friday 13 January at 11.30 am.
