Vale shot away to a perfect start playing into the wind and sun when Neil Walker slotted over a penalty goal in the seventh minute. Leven minutes later Wayne Blyth intercepted a Burnage pass to race away for unconverted try, the winger had to replaced in the second half when he dislocated a finger. Another injury curtailed Rhys Randal's contribution which appears to rule him out for the rest of the season.
A lively Burnage side came back into contention with a converted try in the twenty first minute and when the Vale dozed of at quickly taken penalty Burnage slipped into the lead in the thirty seventh minute.
With Randall out of the action the Vale were forced to regroup and home side extend their lead when their dangerous centre cut through for an unconverted try in the fifty first minute. Two Walker penalties brought the Vale back in contention in the fifty fourth and sixty seventh minutes.
Again the Vale were punished for relaxing as Burnage collected their fourth try. Jamie Antcliffe proved to be ace scavenger when he popped up from nowhere to sprint way for the match winning try converted by Walker, minutes later the scrum half saw his penalty hit an upright and bounce out of harms way.
In the closing minutes Vale defended well but they hung on for a deserved victory to preserve their unbeaten record. On Saturday vale travel to Stockport to take on Conference B leaders.
