Vale moved further away from the relegation zone with an 8 try victory against Wilmslow which included a hat trick from James Curran. Another important win has boosted the Vale's confidence, although they still have to play a number of challenging fixtures in the coming weeks.
Curran opened the scoring in the eighth minute , his try being converted by Aaron Melville. Four minutes later David Haigh swept through in classic style, again Melville converted.
Wilmslow, after a difficult opening, came back into the game with a penalty goal following solid forward pressure in the eighteenth minute. The visitor's revival did not last long because the Vale hit back immediately when Al Crookall powerfully rampaged over for a try converted by Melville.
Curran completed the scoring with a brace of tries, one of which was converted by Melville to complete a productive first half for the hosts.
Jake Harrison blasted through when he came hurtling inside for a well taken solo try converted by Melville in the forty fourth minute. Shortly after Ryan Needham announced his arrival off the bench in dramatic style with a try from close range, Melville again adding the extras.
As the Vale started to coast Wilmslow collected a try but Needham's second try brought up the half century with four minutes remaining.
Haigh produced a stellar performance, Curran also used his experience to telling effect and posed a threat throughout. Harry Bartle continues to impress, the young number nine combining well with the impeccable Melville to ensure the ball was moved efficiently along the line. Needham proved to be a dynamic replacement, Chris Thomas had an excellent all round game at full back and Isaac Turton marked his return with a typical all action performance.
