..made to the Vale of Lune by Bob Benjamin over many years.
As a player Bob played an important role in the nineteen fifties as the Vale began to establish themselves as an ambitious and forward thinking club, both on and off the field. When his playing days were over Bob became an enthusiastic, hard working committee member,a touch judge of some distinction, and went onto become the longest serving committee member, eventually taking a back seat at the end of the 1999/2000 season.
Bob was elected President for the 1987/88 and 1988/89 seasons and was made an Honorary Life Member in 1995.
In recent seasons Bob became a regular on the East Terrace, a keen supporter of whatever Vale team was in action, offering constructive advice to both players and match officials in equal measure.Bob was quick to praise those who gave their all, but did not suffer fools gladly. In addition he had the ability to spot a player's potential and to give an accurate assessment of their strengths and weaknesses.
Bob Benjamin leaves behind many friends, plus a host of precious memories for those who were privileged to be in the company of such a redoubtable and highly respected member of the Vale of Lune.
