It is with sadness and gratitude that we acknowledge the passing of two of the the Vale of Lune's stars of yesteryear. Their deaths have come within a few days of each other.
Scrum half Ged Slack and flanker Hughie Kennon played for the Vale with great distinction from the late 1960s and through the 1970s. Hughie's place in Vale's history is secured in the famous 'Sons of Gentlemen' photograph, taken by Tony North in 1969, and now on display in the County Bar. Ged was also a member of the team in that era.
We salute their contribution to the club and to the sport. Goodbye Ged and Hughie, and thank you.
Ave Atque Vale.
