A Vale character of long standing had died this week at the age of 93. Terry Rooke was a player, captain and organiser at the Vale for many years. He will be fondly remembered for his humour, energy and love of the sport. If ever there was a fellow who could turn an ordinary day into a party, it was Terry.

We extend our warmest sympathies to Jim and the other members of Terry's family.

A minute's silence will be observed before today's match at Powder House Lane at 3pm.
