The Vale of Lune extends our deepest sympathies to families and friends of ten-year-old Poppy Atkinson who was fatally injured by a moving car at Kendal Rugby Cub on Wednesday evening. We also hope for an expeditious recovery of the other girl (not yet named) who was injured in the same incident.

The challenges facing our friends at Kendal Rugby Club will be considerable. Our chair, Andy Perry has written to Kendal to assure them of any support we are able to give at this difficult time. The incident has triggered a review of our own safety practices. In the meantime, we must remind our members and visitors of the need to exercise high caution and low speeds for motor vehicles on the car park at the Vale of Lune.
