Vale U.12s progress in Lancs Cup.

Barry Lees8 Feb - 19:11

Waterloo 5 - Vale of Lune 45

Match Report by Phil Watson

It was a well organised and clinical performance from the boys this weekend. The forwards worked their socks off all over the pitch, winning collisions and providing a solid platform, while the backs did their jobs and finished things off with some excellent tries.

The first half was all about well-worked moves, with every try coming down the left side. The scoring started with Jacob after a strong set piece and slick hands. This was then quickly followed by Stan who lit his burners to speed past a flailing Waterloo defence.

Waterloo came back into the game with a quick score and caught Vale napping. However Vale were quick to get back on track with Sam H making brilliant run down the right side, beating defenders and setting up Theo to score. Harris making an ambitious run and scoring just before the break. As the pressure kept building and the team moved the ball confidently.

In the second half the boys kept their foot on the gas. Even though Waterloo were working hard and never gave up, the tenaciousness of Vale kept the pressure on, forcing mistakes and keeping play in the right areas of the pitch. The tries continued to come, with Henry scoring a well worked try out wide. Noah then followed with a great opportunist’s try. There were some powerful carries throughout the half with Harrison and Jacob making strong direct runs that constantly put the defence on the back foot.

Jacob W then got his second and powered over the line from close range. In the last 5 minutes there were more tries from Theo & Ashton. Both coming from well worked attack and powerful runs. Sam T was also rock solid under the high ball showing great hands which put Vale on the attack and Dylan finished off the move. Alf then completed the scoring with pace and power.
Overall a great team performance from everyone involved. Lots to be proud of and plenty to build for the coming weeks.
