The under 11s were back on home soil and conditions were perfect for running rugby.
The U11s are in great form and everyone wanted this to continue against another strong
Cumbrian team.
The squad nestled together and went through the warm up ready to showcase the hawk
like precision that this squad has.
Penrith started strongly and despite being on the back foot were able to claw back a
couple of scores quickly.
James ran the show from fly half and to the eagle eyed spectator he is displaying a wide
range of skills to make a difference when things look tough.
When in possession the U11s flew through tackles and used the width of the pitch to
keep their formation accurate and make sure the attacks were as fast and accurate as a
Peregrine falcon.
The attacking line continues to develop and like a gaggle of geese there was plenty of
chatter about how to break Penrith’s line.
Much praise must go to Kaiden who is swift on the wing and glides beautifully through
tackles when he looks outnumbered.
In defence the likes of Ted, Bobby and Jesse were more like a flock of seagulls on
Morecambe prom grabbing chips off tourists! Once the ball was in their sight there was
no stopping them!
One of the tries of the game came from Robert jinking through tacklers like a
Sparrowhawk through trees and then dishing up a lovely off load for James to go over
from close range.
Team of the week went to Roman and George who powered through defenders all
game with the prowess and stealth of a Barn Owl and the power of a Golden eagle.
In attack it was more akin to a murmuration of Starlings with would be defenders totally
confused about how to put a stop to the onslaught with runners coming from all
directions.
Head Coach, Joe got his coaches in perfect V formation who continued to honk their
encouragement from the sidelines to the team but in reality they were like birds of prey
hunting at every opportunity to increase their lead.
Joe was really pleased when he announced that there are no chickens in our squad
when things get tough. Despite a few knocks all the players worked hard for each other
and made themselves really tough to beat.
This squad is a really strong flock of talent and play rugby more in tune than the dawn
chorus.
Another local derby awaits with Garstang away next week. None of the squad will bury
their heads in the sand to this challenge. The squad are always looking to win but we
know there are always lots of PERMatations involved in winning against local teams.
