The short trip to Mint Bridge was always going to have an extra sting in the tail with
Kendal Hornets one of our closest rivals.
The scene was set thanks to South Lakes Fencing providing the squad with a brand
new kit. With this new kit the gates to success will be well and truly open! With strong
posts in place the squad will always have solid foundations and the panel of parents
were certainly impressed with how smart everyone looked.
The squad were buzzing once formalities started and the size of the squad meant that
Vale were a hive of activity from the start. The squad have adjusted brilliantly to the new
rules and clear roles in the colony are showing with a strong understanding of positional
play and how to keep the ball alive making use of quality plays throughout.
With Jesse at scrum half the worker bees were kept busy and made sure that between
him and James there were some killer bees let loose in big runs and tackles.
Big Theo was in great form and his handling and runs were as smooth as honey and it
was sweet to watch him in full flow!
Kendal certainly didn’t allow to be overrun by the Vale swarm and played some tasty
rugby that certainly had all spectators buzzing. Ultimately though, the waggle dancing of
Gabby, Isaac and little Theo, as team of the week, proved too much and Vales’ power
certainly pollinated the hopes of victory for the next Cumbrian team at Powderhouse
Lane of Penrith next week.
Coach Joe was buzzing at the final whistle and gathered the colony together where he
was full of praise for everyone. Like a honeycomb the squad is perfectly formed and this
U11s squad really is the Royal Jelly of the Vale of Lune RUFC. This squad has the
panache to float like a butterfly but the power to sting like a bee whenever they want to!
The drone coaches of Chris, Ian and Paul were well impressed and this squad isn’t
going to buzz off easily when challenges keep coming our way.
Queen bee Kerry was watching from the side lines knowing that everyone really
contributed to this victory and is busy working on tour arrangements that may have a
sniff of Scottish heather!
