The Vale u10s welcomed Mold RUFC as part of their tour from North Wales. A fantastic team arrived full of proud dragons ready to play high quality rugby.
Saturday also saw the U10s form the guard of honour for the 1st XV which was a privilege for the boys and helps them aspire to be stepping out in the future on the green green grass of home when they are part of the senior team in the years to come.
Our amazing parents contributed off the pitch by leading the cake stall which has brought a significant boost for our own tour to the North East in April.
On the pitch saw some seriously good rugby with real passion, desire and skill that our players always bring to the pitch.
James was in amazing form with passing from hand of the highest quality which helped direct the Vale traffic to avoid any road rage and head straight for the line.
Whilst Charlotte Church has the voice of an angel, Big Theo has the feet of an angel with his ability to quickly turn defence into attack and he regularly put Mold on the back foot.
The biggest positive was the ruck area with everyone really getting stuck into and this is definitely an area that really clicked and made a huge difference. Mold were left looking for Mulder and Scully to investigate the power and intensity the team brought today, but all they could find was a highly motivated Vale attack and an intensity that couldn’t be matched.
Seb was on fire and manoeuvred beautifully through any handbags and gladrags to split the defence and scoring, possibly one of the best crafted tries of the season.
At the half time and team changeover points the coaches gathered and pondered on the next design for life needed to carry on the challenge. The message was clear. Carry on what you are doing!
Jesse showed huge spirit keeping his side going and his performance was a total eclipse of the heart as he was determined to keep spirits up against a physical and well drilled side. Everyone on the side lines could see his desire to keep the side going. Well done Jesse.
Hamish was incredible and at times it looked like he had a thousand trees in front of him but he cut through them all with grace and quality to leave Mold touched by his Goldfinger and unable to move.
Head coach Joe was happier with the performance than the time he spends arranging daffodils. He was quoted as saying ‘despite a few leeks in defence at times, there was no rarebits in our performance and all the local boys in photograph are well deserved winners of team of the week.
A huge well done to Will, James, Seb and Hamish for team of the week. Truly deserved with brilliant performances.
Shirley Bassey sang that Diamonds are forever. The real diamonds are all of our u10s who work so well as a team and are as well tuned as Sir Tom Jones singing his way through the verses of Delilah!
